ABOUT US
Speak Out for Surgery (S.O.S.) is a student - led organization created to address and resolve domestic healthcare disparities. As advocates for those who are overlooked in our healthcare system, members of S.O.S. aim to recognize the medical and personal struggles that patients and their families face. After hearing their stories, our team connects people with the surgical, legal, psychological, and financial resources necessary to remedy issues in their lives that are outside of their control. On a larger scale, S.O.S. uses information from the interviews to write anecdotal pieces, publish public health statistics, host campus-wide educational events, and coordinate fundraisers. Each of these tasks contributes to our ultimate goal: broadening the discussion about disparities in children’s health across Southern California.
